An engineer checks your tolerances, your materials and your certs — then he leaves.

Nobody buys a machining capability from a homepage. A sourcing engineer checks materials, tolerances, certifications and capacity, and then sends an RFQ. The job of the site is to survive that check and make the RFQ easy. The rest is decoration.

Your buyer is an engineer with a drawing, and your site is a brochure.

Three things that make this trade its own problem

The PO lands nine months after the search

Somebody finds you in March and issues a purchase order in December. No standard report joins those two events, so the marketing looks dead in the quarter it was working, and that is usually the quarter it gets cut.

Capability is what qualifies you

Machine list, travels, capacities, materials, tolerances, ISO 9001 or AS9100, whether you are ITAR registered. That is the content that gets you shortlisted, and most manufacturer sites have one paragraph where the machine list should be.

There is no price and no cart

The conversion is an RFQ. A contact box with a Message field gets you enquiries nobody can price without three phone calls, and half of them are people who wanted one part.

Local or national — where this one is actually decided

Capability, not the map pack. A sourcing engineer three states away does not care where you are, only whether you can hold the tolerance. Local SEO is close to wasted money here, and that changes the whole recommendation.
